Sat. Oct. 15, Host Family / Au Pair Event

Posted by: mlebar | August 19, 2011 | No Comment |

Please join us at Stade’s Farm on Sat. Oct. 15, from 1000a-noon.  McHenry, IL

We will have a tent set up with some light snacks and drinks for the kids.

Here is some more information about what they have to offer when you are there:
“Shades of Autumn” is the annual Fall Festival at Stade’s Farm & Market. Located in McHenry County in northern Illinois, Shades of Autumn is a great place to bring the whole family to enjoy nature’s bounty, plus great entertainment, during the most beautiful time of the year. During Shades of Autumn you can experience a day on the farm filled with family fun.

Stade’s Farm & Market has been hosting this fall festival since 1995. Not only are pumpkins waiting to be picked out in the patch, the hayride back and forth is fun, too. In our petting zoo, you can play with some of our four-legged friends. We have mazes in which to test your skills, and the pumpkin train is a big hit with the little ones. The pumpkin cannon demonstrations are a “blast” to watch while enjoying some of our home-cooked food. (Did we mention that we serve home-cooked food?) Here at Shades of Autumn we are more than able to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings, as well as serve up some lunch. Our farm market is fully stocked with in-season fresh-picked produce and all the fall decorations you might be looking for. Nominal charge for events at the farm.

3709 West Miller Road McHenry, IL 60051

Please let us know if you are coming so we can plan ahead!

Mega Bus Options

Posted by: mlebar | July 5, 2011 | No Comment |

Here’s a good alternative to pouring $20s into your gas tank. The economy intercity Megabus line has added more daily trips on the Chicago-Minneapolis, Chicago-Milwaukee and Chicago-Madison routes. The bus line touts its $1 fares, and it is true. If you keep searching, you will find $1 fares, especially when checking far in advance.

I searched megabus.com for trips between Chicago and Madison in August and found half a dozen $1 fares for the outbound trip. I had more difficulty scoring a $1 for the return but did find one after moving the return date a few days farther away. If you’re flexible, you win.
